We are the Junior League of Greater New Haven
Above all else, our goal is to promote and perpetuate social change in the Greater New Haven communities that will benefit most from it. By empowering women and providing valuable leadership training, we are giving local women the tools to get involved, put their talents to work, and positively impact the communities of Greater New Haven.
Strength in Numbers
As one of hundreds of Junior League chapters across the world, we are a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI). Established in 1923- current, the Greater New Haven plays an integral part in the development, improvement, and support of the communities of New haven County.

Our Local Impact
Right now, our primary focus of Food insecurity, women’s health, and literacy requires immediate action, and our multi-faceted approach is making an impact. In 2 years we plan to complete our 5 year strategic goals plan of:
- Community Impact: Align our efforts and partnerships to match community needs and provide meaningful and accessible volunteer opportunities to our members.
- League Growth & Sustainability: Strengthen JLGNH’s financial stability for long term support of our mission.
- Lifelong Membership: Create an inclusive culture for a diverse group of women that engages members, and fosters lifelong connections among members to the League
- League Brand & Identity: Strengthen brand awareness and civic relationships among diverse audiences by actively seeking opportunities to tell their stories both internally and externally.
By:
Fund Development
- Build Financial Stability:
- Host two diverse fundraising events (in-person and virtual).
- Engage members in fundraisers, ensure at least 80% participation, and support them in reaching goals.
- Communicate fundraising goals and impact transparently to members and donors.
- Include board members, aiming for 100% participation.
- Allocate at least 15% of funds to community programs.
- Provide annual Board training on fund development.
Community Impact
- Support Community Needs:
- Annually identify 1-3 focus areas through member polling and community needs assessment.

- Develop impactful community programs and partnerships.

- Annually form partnerships with two new organizations aligned with the League’s mission.

- Provide consistent monthly volunteer opportunities.

- Track member engagement in volunteer projects.
Membership Engagement
- Foster an Inclusive Culture:
- Recruit at least 25% new members yearly.

- Guide provisional members to ensure 75% transition to active members.

- Support transfer members with training and engagement.

- Increase active member engagement and track participation.
Communications & Brand Awareness
- Enhance Visibility and Transparency:
- Run a yearly storytelling campaign to boost visibility.

- Share updates regularly within the League (bi-weekly emails and weekly social media posts).

- Publish an annual report on community impact, finances, and member development.

- Increase online engagement and social media followers by 10% year-over-year.
